Followed by bipolar manic episodes, bipolar disorder is characterized by thoughts and mood disorders with long periods of depression. Periods of depression or mania may last from just a few months to one whole year, this will depend on each individual. Bipolar manic patients can sometimes be referred to as mania or hypo mania (not a severe form of mania). With those with  hypo mania, victims may be easily irritated, very sensitive and have a severe  elevated mood. People with mania symptoms have big plans, involving themselves  in several projects and very talkative. The high risk for those bipolar manic victims is the use  of alcohol or cocaine.

Anti-Psychotic Drugs for Bipolar

The main symptoms for those with bipolar manic is the accompaniment of psychotic thoughts, which can lead to very severe emotional responses and judgment problems which can render patients unable to communicate. These thoughts may get out of control and so manic patients may be prescribed mood stabilizing medication to control their manic symptoms. These medications include:

Clorazil : Was first used in Europe in 1971 for the treatment of  schizophrenia. One of  the first antipsychotic drug to be found.

Risperdal:  First sold in the Netherlands under this market name. This  antipsychotic drug was used for the  treatment of schizophrenia and later used for mixed and mania episodes and  autism problem in children.

Zyprexa: A combination of fluoxetine Symbyax was  FDA approved as an  antipsychotic for treating schizophrenia, only later used in the treatment of bipolar.

First Line Treatments

The first-line of the treatment of severe bipolar manic episodes  for most doctors are:

Lithium: A chemical salts and used as a mood stabilizing drug primarily for bipolar mania.

Valproate: A replacement to lithium salts is believed reverse the brain process and affect the function of the neurotransmitter. It is used in bipolar treatment . Its main work is to stop or  block transamination of GABA.

Monotherapy: HAS been approved by FDA for treating bipolar manic and bipolar I victims

The Family Therapy

Many  people who are with a bipolar manic or with  depressive episodes,  forget that a family-focused therapy can be quite effective for bipolar patients. Bad blood running within family members can make bipolar manic states worse. All family members  must help contribute by trying to manage their individual behaviors so as to reduce a catalyst for the symptom to come back. The main aim of this bipolar treatment -family therapy is members are alert to the signs and symptoms and how they can  handle it properly when the signs appear.

Dialectal Behavior – Therapy

This kind of behavior therapy was first started by Dr. Marsha Linehan in which patients go through different stages of therapy which finally can lead them to taking control of their behaviors. One of the main focus of this therapy is patients learn to accept and control their thought patterns.

Reducing behaviors which are self-threatening like being suicidal and other bipolar manic behaviors that obstruct with bipolar treatment is the first  stage  goals. For manic victims, building on these stages requires skill training.

All forms of depression are basically categorized as medical related.  Medical depression is comprised of many stages of illness.  They can range from mild depression, Bi-polar disorders or manic depression, all the way up to major depression.  Depression is a disease.  Although it is a mental illness it is no different than heart disease or lung disease.  It is a disease that affects one of the bodily organs.  If you suffer from depression it does not mean that you are a lower form of life.  It does not place you in a category that is stereotyped as weird or nuts.  It simply means that you have an illness that requires treatment.  Depression however is a very serious thing and requires proper medical depression treatment, not pushed to a side as being all in the person’s mind.

Early depression is hard to detect.  People get sad sometimes.  When things don’t go our way we get down in the dumps.  Sadness does not equal depression.  Short term negative feelings aren’t depression.  Depression is an illness that will stay with you on a consistent basis.  Sadness that sticks around for months, and that touches every aspect of life is depression .  Radical mood swings are a sure sign of depression.  If you can’t sleep or you eat too little or too much, that means depression.

Medical depression has complex causes.  A variety of possibilities and causes have to be examined.  Depression is known to be caused by stress.  There is so much stress in our lives today.  Stress is part of personal interaction.  Stress comes from balancing the books.  Raising children is stressful and so can result in medical depression.  Emotional suffering can bring on medical depression from stress.  Chemical, environmental and even genetic issues further complicate the situation.

Medical depression can be cured.  17 million people nation wide are affected with medical depression yearly.  Only 1/3 will look for help.  Without diagnosis there can’t be a cure.  Treatment usually involves a combination of therapy and medications or herbs.  There are also many different support groups that allow you to associate with those who suffer and feel the same as you do.  You do not have to get through medical depression alone.  It will not heal itself.  If you or anyone you love is showing signs of battling medical depression seek medical help immediately.

Those who have had an anxiety attack know what it is and how it feels. Heart racing in chest, and other symptoms leave them worrying about their life. They may have been in to the doctor and told it is “all in your head”  – and they’ve worried that it truly was all in their head and they are losing their mind.

For those who haven’t had an anxiety attack, this is a foreign subject. It’s time to learn more.

reasons behing anxiety attack?

First, there are both physical and mental symptoms of an anxiety attack. Both can be debilitating. They can last from only a few seconds to a half hour or longer. (The average attack lasts thirty minutes. It can be mild, or so severe that a trip to the emergency room seems in order.

The physical symptoms range from sweating and chest pains, inability to catch the breath, racing pulse, shaking or hot flashes or chills. Feeling dizzy, or faint, is also a common symptom to an anxiety attack.

The mental symptoms can be just as hard to deal with. Sufferers report feeling like they’re going to lose their mind, they are losing control, going crazy, or going to die. While they aren’t likely to die from an anxiety attack, the terror of an attack can be literally paralyzing. The feeling of fear, panic, and dread can leave the sufferer feeling like they’re either going to go crazy or actually die. .

What Causes Anxiety Attacks?

Anxiety attacks may be caused by several things. First, heredity or genetics plays a part. If you have relatives or ancestors who have suffered from anxiety attacks, you are more likely to have them also. But those without such connections can also have them.

The way in which one is raised can influence a propensity to have a panic attack. those who are raised with a fearful outlook on life and their surroundings are more likely to have this disorder, as compared to those who have a very passive communication style.

Other physical conditions can also have an impact. Those who have obsessive compulsive disorder, post traumatic stress disorder, hyperthyroidism, hypoglycemia, a vitamin B deficiency, or even labyrinthitis may induce panic or anxiety attacks.

Anxiety attacks can also be caused by chemicals introduced into the body.  These include “heavy duty” drugs, like Ritalin, anti-depressants, and all SSRI drugs, but also nicotine, alcohol, and even caffeine.

Mental issues can also trigger anxiety attacks. Things like phobias, previous panic attacks, or a significant loss or life change (like the death of a spouse) can cause an attack to occur.

I have witnessed, both within my own family, in the outside world and in my practice, what can happen in a relationship if there is no common bond that can actually bind a couple together.

Well, let me digress (or maybe, progress) and say a bit about getting together as a couple in the first place: even if there is a strong attraction, be it physical, mental or emotional: Love; That does not seem to be enough to keep a couple together; the body will wither, the mind will change and the emotions will flutter. And love may turn into a dependency or habit. Unless, there is a third entity; the glue that binds the one to the other; the bond that binds, a mutual goal and lifetime commitment to it. The “it” needs to be greater that both of you, a driving force that can take both of you, like a boat down the river, or an ark during a flood (and floods there will be) …

In my opinion, there are two good bonds; children and Religion or a Spiritual Practice (to be more politically correct, or any other proven external disciplinary way of life that both parties agreed to commit to whole-heartedly, abide by, follow and emulate; the goal). Even if both of these are present, there are no guarantees, but the chances are greatly improved.

Without these, there is no common bond; it’s just two people living separate lives together: convenient for a nice meal, some ambience, safe sex, and the occasional meaningful conversation …

So, the intent or lifetime goal of both parties must be the same. Otherwise, both sides will be resentful, because, in any situation, for any important decision, no compromise can satisfy both of the parties, because their primary motivating goals are different; or they have no primary motivating goals and “just don’t feel like it” at the time. And so there is no improvement in the situation and resentments, anger, etc. build; and there is no possibility for a long-term relationship.

A tendency towards negativity, insecurity and fear/anxiety may sometimes seem to obscure love. But this is who the person is at the moment; and they are perfect the way they are.

Love may sometimes seem to be obscured by a tendency towards not wanting to be so depended upon by the other, for their happiness, security and emotional wellbeing. But this is who that person is at the moment; and perfect the way they are.

Much of this may stem from residual family entanglements. “Inherited” family control issues may the the cause of some behaviors. Some behaviors may come from family insecurity issues.

There are a few key issues that need to be kept in mind: Trust! Honesty! One must trust the other, as the right hand trusts the left. And one must be honest and trustworthy, inside the relationship and in the world at large as well; trusting yourself, being honest with yourself and trusting your partner and being honest with your partner, and being trustworthy and honest in all your dealings in the world. In other words, your thoughts, speech and actions should always be in line with a clear conscience.

There are times when you will feel rejected or abandoned, based on your perception of the situation. There is usually no reason to feel this way; from the other’s standpoint, it’s not about you, it may be about their family control issues.

At times you may feel that you would appear weak if you give in to the desires of the other. There is no reason to feel weak by giving in: remember the bond that binds; you can show your compassion and accommodation of what may be the other’s family insecurity issues.

Besides the above mentioned, or perhaps, because of the above mentioned, there may be a lack of real compassion and empathy on the part of both parties for each other. To see the world from the other persons heart and to trust the other person, that they are doing the best they can. To see them as perfect, the way they are. (Don’t get me wrong: there is always room for improvement.) To realize the person is always more important than any ideology or material object or goal; the relationship comes first.

Perhaps ask; what’s the worst thing that can happen if the worst thing happens. Most of the time, when the dust settles, nothing too spectacular. Again, the third entity, the bond that binds, the trust in that everything that happens is only good.

There is a need for genuine compassion and complete acceptance of the other as perfect as they are; acknowledgement and acceptance of each others needs and idiosyncrasies and the commitment and willingness to live with them as they are, for as long as they are that way. Which, if you ask me, and as has been proven millions of times in the present and throughout history, cannot be accomplished without the “third party”, the bond that binds one love to the other.

The other person; their feelings, hopes, dreams, goals must be your own as well: you are one; heads and tails of the same coin. One person, soul, living life in two bodies.

It says, “All beginnings are difficult”. And while this may be so, you can ensure that the trip will be worthwhile and pleasant for you and for all of those who love you, by heading in the right direction, with the right foot, for the right reasons, towards the right goal …

It’s a normal reaction for those not suffering with anxiety, to want to shake the lethargy out of those that do. This is not the way you should be treating sufferers with anxiety, and no, you do not make the person more anxious than they already are. It solves nothing. The best way in fact, is to let the person know that their anxieties and fears will never actually happen. This is a proven fact that ninety nine percent of your worries and anxieties never happen. So why worry? Be happy, even if it is for a short while.

Moving On

Treating the anxiety or depression of a person who has been in a hostile situation can require more intense treatment. Many may otherwise feel they cannot move on until it is dealt with. Click here for more information on Anxiety Treatment.

A Quick And Simple Process?

Treating anxiety is not just a quick and simple process, countless sessions have to be attended to get to the root of the problem. If the person tends to be over dramatic with every little thing that could possibly happen to them, finding out the reason why they are continually anxious quickly is a good thing.

Is it possible the sufferers picked up this way of thinking? In a lot of cases the treatment for anxiety means teaching not to pass on any feelings of anxiousness to others, in particular, children. Some people don’t take lightly to others having panic attacks or anxiety attacks, as it is difficult for them to see what all the fuss is about. While these other people see what the immediate problem is, they get in and sort it out as if they were the A-Team, they don’t have time to worry about what doesn’t need attention, only the immediate, and then step back. Focus is what it is all about. Click here for more information on Treatments for Anxiety.

For others to learn this method would be quite difficult if they are continually treating anxiety attacks by themselves, because they have picked up how to have the attacks by seeing others. Therefore, proper guidance is needed.

Self Control

Self control is the first basic step. For treating anxiety attacks, breathe and focus on things that need to be done, not what could happen. You are the one in control, do not let it get the better of you. If you would like more information please visit our homepage on Anxiety.
